I belong to the Bank of Me. The bank of me is where i make deposits and withdrawals. The deposits are the calories and macros i input daily. The withdrawals are the energy i expend in the day. I am tying to keep my ledger balanced at an equal amount of deposits and withdrawals. Most people call this maintenance. I just realized this is a good way for me to think about the food i put into my body. I can have more calories if i expend more calories. If i want to keep my bank healthy i have to pay attention to the daily activity. Because my career was in finance i pay attention to my finances on a daily basis. I need to think about my health in the same careful manner.

Love it! It can be such a game changer when we can find a way to tie something we are experienced with to something we're new at, and things just click! You've got this YOH! 👍 💜

I love the finance analogy. I always viewed my weight loss journey the same as investing. You may not notice the difference in the beginning, but if you remain consistent, the results will pay off in the long run.

Funny you should post this! It's what my nutritionist told me at our monthly meeting yesterday. I was complaining about how hard it is to balance macros and calories when I want to be able to eat like a " normal" person. Her response was that I can eat regular foods but just need to adjust what goes in my body and my cardio the rest of the day. No need to starve myself.. Good example, Joe has been asking for potato soup. I'm making it and will partake. Just going to adjust my carb intake for the rest of day. I also can't do the cream ( lactose issue )so I will make it together until that step and I'll use chicken stock and small amount ofmilk in my portion. I found a recipe on Skinnytaste. So that even lightens it up more.

I’ve always thought of it like a car. If I don’t put sufficient fuel and oil in my car, the car will not run properly or at all. I treat food the same way, always have. Banking is very similar. If you don’t save and invest, you won’t come out with anything. Great thoughts yoh. xo

Perfect analogy! I have learned that if I'm especially active, I can eat a little more. On days I'm less active, but take in too many calories it's like a "loan". The next day, I must pay it back by eating fewer calories & maybe being more avtive as well. That's why alternating my Gym days works for me. I know I burn extra calories those days. On the days between I run errands & do house projects. That can burn calories, too. Whether you compare your intake to money, gas, etc., if you don't put anything in, eventually, you'll be running on empty or have an empty account.

Totally resonates. Was also in financial services and once I started to look at tracking calories as a "budget" as opposed to managing a deficit, the mental shift was huge. I've always been an exemplary saver and great at budgeting. Why this didn't transfer over until this go round, I'll never know.

Your routine also sounds similar to mine. Weight Loss = Calories in less Calories expended. I was an auditor / accountant for many years and then in corporate management in the accounting field. My wife still gets frustrated with me asking how many grams / ounces were in that piece of chicken. She is always telling me, "you may have retired from accounting, but you still count everything". Probably true. :)

Yep, I'm a former finance person too and it just comes naturally. You're doing a great job of keeping that account balanced. 💚💜💛

To all of you guys thanks so much for your responses. I found that if i shift the way im thinking about my caloric intake it makes more sense for me. Hope it helps some of you. I have x amount of calories to spend in a day so i should spend them wisely and spurge occasionally as i did on thanksgiving with the pie. My little foray into pie worked out for me hoping that is a small step toward a better attitude toward food that is off limits routinely. God bless you all and have a lovely evening.

Great analogy!! I am an accountant so maybe that is why I love macros and tracking. I love seeing my CICO daily and that helps me maintain. I still weigh things daily too. Love my little scale.

I can relate! 647 days of Food Diary entries so far tracking macros making little tweaks here and there. 'The Bank of Me' LOVE IT, YoH!!!
