Took all three dogs to the vet yesterday. Trying to keep everyone calm and collected was the most unusual exercise I've gotten in a long time, truly exhausting, but easier on everyone to keep the pack together. My dogs are good, but can react if another is in distress or whatever and everyone loves the vet, right? Well, two out of three of mine do. The good news is that everyone is at a stable healthy weight except me. The not good news is that arthritis is creeping in, but we're going to address it and that's the key. Keep moving, albeit more slowly and with breaks along the way. There's a message for me in there, I suspect, as I know how key it is to my health to be able to keep moving always. Mental and physical health, especially as the days are now noticeably shorter. Sigh. Other than the spectacular sunsets we tend to have this time of year, the pressing of darkness into the days is hard. Already harder getting up in the mornings without the sunlight. 5 am calls don't count - those are just wrong on so many levels. less actively sad the last two days, just needed to let the grief out. I think the thing that throws me is that work is usually my safe place, but when work is the reminder, that makes it harder to go head down and push through.
I'm going to need to cut my calories back if I can't increase my movement. can't walk them separately. That's just the way it is. For those who worry about going too low on calories, don't. I log to 1200, but I count ~85% of what I eat so there's room to spare. I'll just pull back to a more strict 1200 and keep it in the green. More veggies and fruit vs. whatever it is I've been eating to nudge up. Cold enough to start making some soup, too. soup is one of my favorite foods in the world. I'll pull the instant pot out at lunch today. Can't ignore that bad boy if it's taking up counter space.
life does go on no matter what, doesn't it? sun comes up, goes down and the world keeps turning. pretty sharp edge there. Onwards. it's better than going backwards. another busy day, but I had a twenty minute reboot so had the time to write more than lately.
I thought this was a pretty funny pic. you can definitely tell who is not thrilled to be there. and I did learn how to trim the big dude's nails and it wasn't anything I was doing wrong. good times, good times.
