After going through the closet yesterday trying on pants I was surprised to see the scale go up a half lb. 😯 I made 3 piles...those that fit (mostly Jeggings that stretch), those that are way too big, and the ones just a little too big. The last pile I'm planning on throwing in the washer on hot & drying on high, hoping they shrink.

I did get out the measuring tape this AM. I'm an inch smaller in the bust, waist, Tummy, and hips. I lost a total of 4" since Oct 25th. 😊

I'm trying to get motivated to do some exercise other than walking. At 64 I doubt I'll be lifting weights, but I need to do something. There are definitely areas that could use some firming up.

Don't doubt it- Do it! You don't need them to be super heavy but I think you'd enjoy it. (I think everyone would enjoy it) You know how cardio sucks sometimes and you're gasping for air and it isn't fun often times? With lifting you just feel a nice little burn that feels good but you don't feel like you could pass out at any moment. And so you get to do all these "feeling good" movements and next thing you know, you've shaped your body in ways you didn't know it could ever look- all without killing yourself. I highly recommend it. ❤💪🏻🏋🏼‍♂️ Congrats on the inches lost. Weight lifting will only increase it. But I won't hound you about it. ;)

Lifting weights is good for you especially at 64. You need to maintain strength and musclemass now more than ever. Do not think about lifting like body building... it does not have to be anything like that. You can work with light weights and body weight... It is what I do. I am getting some muscle but more importantly strength and balance

Great going on the inches list, but I have to second Princess! There are so many reasons lifting at least some is so important. For me, as I get older, my biggest reason is to have strength to not get hurt. My mom was heavy and unfit at my age and when she took a fall she broke her wrist, shattered bones in her shoulder and damaged her knee enough to need surgery. Maybe she could have caught herself if she had any strength. I fell months back... So hard I got a giant, 6 inch black bruise on my hip. But, I recovered so quickly. My spine was jarred but I can only believe that because of the muscle built up to hold it strong, I had no issues like I have had in the past. I nearly broke my neck when I was 20 in a horse accident and have had troubles with pain and if my neck get out of whack I will be throwing up for days from the pain. Nothing! Since I started even some strength building, I have not again had an episode. Lift! Do it for your future!

Thanks for the input ladies. I do have some lighter hand weights I bought to do some exercises awhile back. I need to do some more research.

I too support lifting 1000%, yes one thousand. It has got me to where I am today. Even my mom who is 70 has seen how it helped me and regrets not starting years ago. Those she’s never in her life had weight issues, she has lost so much bone mass and osteoporosis is eating her. She tries lifting 5lb dumbbells and I support her all the way, even while she’s taking chemo. Lifting is for life, to help us stay upright, and on our feet, no hunching over like our great grandmothers etc. So much more to it for me than the looks, it’s our future as females. Knowing menopause is not that far away for me, I know bone mass gets eaten up during and after...and weight training is key to not only building muscle and strength, but to maintain bone mass. Sorry for being so talkative, but this is a topic I am very passionate about. My daughter grabbed this concept doooo willingly a couple years ago and loved to lift as well. She’s almost 21 and will be amazing the rest of her life. I can get not dream what I’d be if I started lifting years ago. BUT, it’s never too late. Start today, even body weight, it all counts!!! 😊

I'm always surprised at the 'ups' ... my current 'rationalization' is that the 'empty' places fill with water until my body decides it doesn't need it and releases it. I may be lying to myself but that's my story.

Lifting light weights is really good for us older folks - helps counteract muscle wasting and improve quality of life. Just be sure to move slowly with each rep, to avoid stressing your joints.
