To mankind69, and anyone else who knows these things, any thoughts on creatine?
My OH is packing on muscle very successfully just now and has added creatine for an extra push.
I've never tried it. Anyone got experience with it?
For clarity, I am asking for him, not me. I am more interested in fat burning than muscle building just now.

I tried it many years ago for a while. I remember feeling stronger while taking it, but not too commited to lifting, so I stopped. if you don't mind a bit of water retention, creatine will give you energy and allow you to go harder in the gym, which over time will lead to grater gainz. it's probably the most used workout supplement besides whey protein, is inexpensive, has been well studied and is considered very safe. around 4 grams daily are enough, some take a bit more the first week to saturate their system. try in small doses and see if it works for you, but expect to gain weight at first and be a bit more puffy. if someone has kidney or liver problems, or has male pattern baldness and minds, it's probably best for them to avoid creatine

Thanks, Wombat. He is doing the loading phase this week and expects a bit of water retention. I don't plan on taking it myself. I am always on the lookout for a fat burner. I don't need to build as much muscle as him!

ah, I misunderstood. in my experience plain old caffeine does the trick just fine as a fat burner or preworkout. I would approach fat burners with far greater caution than something like creatine

I don't even drink coffee anymore since it gives me tremors, or it was when I was overweight and drinking heavily. In the past I've taken 400mg caffeine pills during crash diets, and was ok, didn't have any problems

I’ve only just seen this Anne. Creatine is like anything else for some people it works and not for others I myself have used it on and off and it works for me it’s not a wonder supplement or a steroid even though it’s been named in the past as a natural steroid it’s not. I have a full head of hair and never seen any side affects Creatine supplements can cause an increase in DHT levels, which alters the enzyme that converts testosterone which can lead to hair lose which is the reason for taking it in the first place the need to create testosterone levels to build muscle and increase water in the muscles. Taking 3 to 5g normally takes around 5 to 6 weeks to get into your system and the same to maintain the level the other way it loading where you take 20g split over 4 times a day for 5 to 7 days I’ve done both never had any issues or know anyone else to have but like I say everyone is different I’m not saying people haven’t but I think it’s probably rare. Also need to drink plenty of water 💦 Creatine comes from meat and fish it’s just upping the levels. Hope this helps.

Ah, thanks, Paul. Very interesting. I don't think he needs it TBH, he is getting huge just with his training, and protein powder. All natural too. Sober October is just around the corner so no worries on that front and he has a full head of hair! Bubblegum popped up the other night. I said 'hi' She was asking for you. Thanks again x

He hasn't noticed any benefits/effects yet but it is early days. PS any thoughts on fat burners 😁🤔

Awww 🥰 bless her By the time I arrived she had gone. Fat burners to be honest Anne I’ve never known anyone say they work or seen any evidence either but that’s not to say I’ve never used them not for losing fat but for that extra kick on low days. Fat burners are basically caffeine and yohimbine which work great when you’ve had that day running around back n fourth to the office then coming home to the gym when you need that little push but as for burning fat they actually have an opposite affect by slowing down the metabolism. The body gets used to them over time so prove useless X
