Praise the Lord! Down 1.8 pounds since yesterday! That makes me feel a lot more comfortable about reaching my goal. Now 202.2# with only 3.2 pounds to lose in 6 days. "I think I can, I think I can," said the Little Engine That Could. I can't begin to tell you how many prayers I have offered up about this fast! Perhaps if I had REAL faith, I should be able to pray only ONCE and then sit back and relax, knowing that God is taking care of it. There is some Biblical precedence, though, to "pray without ceasing."

I've made up with my new scale, and moved on to like it. I love getting the same reading each time I step on it, and I like being able to say 202.2 instead of just 202.5 (since I was measuring in 1/2 pound increment before).

I may not have made it clear in my prior posts, but my "doctor's scale" IS my home scale (it's the one I have been using every day for several years). It is the stand-up kind that has the big and small weights that you use to determine your results. (i.e., Put the big one on 200 pounds, move the small one until the needle rests halfway between the top and bottom) I used to lead a Christian weight-loss group called First Place, and the group of members purchased the scale for our weekly weigh-ins. Everyone agreed it should stay with me when we finished the classes.

OK, dentist appointment at 10am and Physical Therapy at noon. My husband was kind enough to go and pick up my daughter & Co at the airport last night around midnight so I could get a proper amount of sleep for weighing in this morning. It was so encouraging to see those extra-large backlit LED numbers down this morning! I thank God for the loss, and am trusting Him to empower me to make it to the finish line either ON or BEFORE June 27th.

Thanks for all the birthday messages yesterday. I got $75 cash, which I am going to use for taking my husband to Spoonbread Bistro, a very expensive restaurant that I've been to once, but he's never been. Also god a $25 gift certificate for the Italian restaurant we love. We also got a $50 Cracker Barrel gift card for our anniversary last week.

I think I'll take my husband OUT to eat once a week! All the rest of our food will be home-cooked, with the exception of carry-out maybe once or twice a month. Instead of having dessert after breakfast, lunch and dinner, we will have it ONCE during the day (and sometimes that will be fresh fruit, but not always)

That's my plan! SO close to having to actually implement it! Wish me luck on this unexplored territory called Maintenance. I'm going to shoot for that for a month or two and then try to start losing again to get down to 165.

Happy Belated Birthday! (for some reason I did not get notifications for any posts yesterday... I probably changed something without realizing). I have used a doctor's (balance beam) scale for the last 40 yrs and recently got a Digital Smart Scale... I still weigh on both, but fortunately they have been the same so far. You had a great loss and are so close to your goal... You Can Do This!!!

Hurray for your loss! If you don't feel like your meal is over til you've had something sweet, when you go back to eating, find some low calorie choices. I always have fruit for breakfast. Other choices are a piece of dark chocolate, sugar free jello with whipped cream, 1 cookie, Outshine frozen fruit pops, 1/2 cup of ice cream, small slices of cake. These can range from 30 to 300 calories. Eat slowly...savoring the taste. Get in the habit of not eating after that.

Thank you for explaining about the "Doctor's" scale. I couldn't imagine how you were going to the doctor's office every day. Is it possible you have any close friends that you could borrow their scale for a day or two before the end of the challenge? It might be possible that one of them weighs just a tad less than yours. I can just imagine a cartoon of you having a dozen scales lined up somewhere in your house. Or just take yours with you visiting people to compare them. Of course, you know if it isn't perfectly level it will measure differently and never use on carpeting. Wood floors are tricky because they usually aren't perfectly level. A dessert other than fruit once a day sounds like a recipe for disaster. Once a week would seem like the maximum to me of what I should choose. The fruit has probably been my first downfall on maintenance, then I proceed to other things I feel like I deserve, like bread for a sandwich or special occasion, then proceed to an occasional dessert. By the way, fruit needs to be eaten on an empty stomach so it can go on through your digestive system quickly, and not mix with other foods especially meat, which takes much longer to digest, because it then ferments and rots in your digestive track. Am thrilled about your loss.

Sorry, Debbie, when I reread your journal you didn't really say what I thought I was answering. I was responding to the idea of having a dessert a day. But now I see you were referring to having a fruit a day. Yeah, I'm there with you. On maintenance, I feel I deserve a fruit a day. But it does get me in trouble. I love having my weight down but part of me thinks that if I can't have an apple or grapefruit a day, maybe it all isn't worth it. I'm right there with you. Also, I too am thinking of all the things I want to eat and several restaurants I want to go to after the challenge. My imagination is very active, and I'm afraid I will go hog wild. Would a regular sweet dessert once a week be sensible? Would that make me lose all control? I don't know.

Munching on grapes late at night is lo-cal and serves the purpose of slowing down, plus it's finger food, which is fun. However, if you're trying to get down to a more reasonable BMI still, I would nix the desserts. If I ate a dessert a day I would blow up to even heavier than when I began to get healthy & fit. If you know you're weak in this area, don't even keep this stuff in your house, or you'll be needlessly tempted.

Happy Belated Birthday! Now you got me thinking...I wonder what my weight will be when I step on my doctor's scale this Thursday when I go. I sure hope it's not too far off my home scale (especially of course if it's higher)...although I will have clothes on...Lol...I guess I shouldn't overthink it.
