Not losing anything ..in fact I'm gaining :(. All these changes at home: husband bringing alcohol and junk food over, we stopped doing sports, not drinking enough water: I cannot just turn page over the next day and expect I can just eat normally I have to compensate somehow even if is next day! ...

You know the older that you get and the longer that you wait the harder it will get cause metabolism will be against you , stop secretly waiting for a big event to start , stop blaming others: junk food at home is not excuse for you to try it , not playing sports does not mean you cannot move or dance or do something on your own ..and water.. come on.. that's so easy.

Next time I weight I'll write less and let the numbers speak.

I completely understand, my boyfriend loves snacks and he has two kids that live with us half time. I just try to tell myself that the junk food is their food, and make sure that I have healthier munchies on hand for me. the kids even get confused as to why I eat different foods so much, because I only sometimes eat a whole meal that's the same as them.

right?... of course if you get hungry is much more convenient to open a bag of chips than to put some veggie to boil and then wait until eating. When I was living alone it was all so much easier cause I could make the environment adapt to my lack of control but now my problem is laziness ^^. I like what you say about mentally separating yourself by calling it "their food" I'll try to remember next time I see his crappy food around lol 😄

I know how you feel! My husband gave up on losing weight and enjoys his junk food and ordering fast food! I will never give up ......I have right in front of me Hershey kisses and caramels , chips and Cheetos in the kitchen etc....I make the supper that he wants and I eat something else. I can't ask him or deny him his pleasure foods so I just don't eat it which sometime it's hard but I don't.... we can do this !

I also try to prevent the lazy excuse by having healthier options on hand too. Cocoa almonds for a chocolate craving, raw veggies if I just want something crunchy, etc. It doesn't make it fool proof, but it does help a lot. I've been meal prepping on sundays, and I definitely make better choices because of it.

My husband also does not eat well. Presently he is very ill and has difficulty with appetite. He is choosing doughnuts and pudding with a side of Ensure most of the time. He also has a collection of chips, licorice and chocolate. Under the circumstances I do not make a fuss. My solution? All junk food is either on top of the frig or covered and put slightly out of the way. I make my meals and offer to make him what I am eating. If it does not appeal he will often make his own. I do not and will not make multiple meals for people. For example my grandkids are coming this week and one is vegetarian the other isn't so the meals I am making for everybody will have vegetarian choices built into a meat meal. We all eat what we choose. The kids are used to their mom's rules and ours so they do not ever have pop and neither one likes junk food much. Since they were very young they would start to eat a candy and end up spitting it out because they didn't like the sweet. To this day my grandson will not eat Cheez Whiz or process cheese slices -- he will skip a meal rather than have those on it! They are 13 and 10 years old.

lol sweetlysad you are STRONG.. hahaha I was complaining for the occasional chips and other stuff but you have something to deal with LOL .. is hard to say no when you see he put all this effort and he wants to see u eating what he brought over , and is ok .. just not if we go piggy mode and keep eating lol and then I also tend to forget our digestion is different so obviously his portions should be bigger cause men accumulate less fat and their structure is bigger so I should eat less than him not equal!!! ..I don't know just having a partner adds so many more factors to the diet ..geez 😑

thank you for the advice @janineFP and @59carol.. I'll try have something pre-made and ready to go and is a good idea to designate a day to do all in a bunch so feels less mechanical.. and I'll try to put his junk food into a sealed wooden box with a secret code that only he knows LOL ..man, I wish he didn't have such a good taste for his junk food that way I could just cover the food and ignore it .. it's not even visible!!! ...but my mind goes: "hm.. I was just casually passing by this shelf on the low box let's see what could be here? " but it does help having it out of sight though..i'll bet will be worse doing eye contact daily with that thing 😑

I have a rule. If it starts calling me a little too much, it goes in the garbage. I was raised to never throw away food, but I had the realization one day that the starving children of the world were not helped one bit by me eating everything on my plate--or every box or bag of goodies. So, I got okay with it. If it calls me from the kitchen, out it goes.

It’s better to teach urself self control by having junk at home

totally agree @Ttina ..I'll bet we have similar backgrounds I was also taught to never let food go to waste : which makes sense while buying groceries ..but once it's home and can't b stored longer, then what's really the point?..is not like you are "saving money" by eating it or some hungry child will be satisfied by your eating it in fact u know just makes it all worse and feeling guiltier later... it's nice to receive a bit of reassurance from you, it does help ..thanks!!
