I like your sip tea or water idea. That’s a tough position but try not to be down on yourself about it. It’s great that you recognized what you were doing so quickly!

@sacred. I already do that. Doesn’t help. Well I do t walk I workout whether it cycling, weights, yoga or rock climbing

Since you know what you need to do differently, go for it. Drink your tea and maybe a few almonds or another healthy snack. You’ve got this! ❤️

Everyone is different but according to my trainer he states calories in calories out and doesn't matter what time of day you eat. But there are a lot of people out here who do intermittent fasting so maybe try something different to see if it helps. I eat 3 big meals a day and two snacks a day to get my macros with one of my meals between 5-7 and my snack around 8 pm. I weigh myself every morning and the scale daily goes up and down but Friday morning is my official tracking day and usually I am right where I need to be. I am in maintenance although kinda working to get off a couple of vacation/Christmas pounds but I also have been trying to get all my reps at the gym so not wanting to cut back my carbs too bad. I drink hot tea if I am feeling hungry though and that does help!

I have a similar issue with my wife. She knows now that she can come when I’m eating or not- I’m not waiting. But it was a struggle for a while with us both retired.

Thanks Jan, buenita and Tom. It is a struggle for me since I’ve tried everything everyone has suggested. The truth is I would have to save the calories then I’d probably be able to eat later but I get hungry by then. I’ve never been a night time eater. My metabolism is pretty slow. I’ve done damage from my thinner years. They were not done in a healthy way and I almost on g for it now. I really shouldn’t complain. I’ve only gotten chubby in my 50s. I’ve always been a size 4-6 as an adult. But it is frustrating. It’s like puberty again and a Jody I don’t quite understand how it works now.

He’s a restaurant eating kind of guy. I make salad or heat soup.

@red yes calories I. And calories out. But calories in the evening means less calories during the day which I use to be able to do when I was young. Now I get hungry. I only eat one main meal a day and pick the rest of the day

Sounds like sipping on you tea during that time at the table with your dad is a great 💡

@P$M: Since your father is only visiting, this is just a temporary eating arrangement -- can you just try the tea and broth and just ride it out? Wouldn't be a bad thing to experiment with, as like @RedPorch pointed out, if you check it just once a week, it may not make a difference on the scale.

@bananas yes it is a temporary thing with dad but I do realize this is an issue I have with anyone. So I need to figure it out. I will try the sipping thing. I hope it works

Going up 2 lbs could also be water retention if you are eating lots of salt at dinner. Salads help with retention and green vegetables or there are herbs and other things you could do to avoid such a huge gain. If i don't take retention herbs with my dinner the scale will go up a few lbs but it's usually temporary. Not everyone will have this problem

Looking at your calendar I'm seeing your protein is consistently maybe half what it needs to be, and fat is low as well, and carbs are high.
I'd change the composition of what you're eating, increase fat and protein and reduce carbs. Carbs stimulate insulin which is a fat storage hormone and worse; it inhibits fat release from fat cells so you get tired on it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wBsnk2PtPeo watch that if you don't believe me... :D
Also things like porridge (oats?) bind with a heap of water. I have a 2kg gain if I eat high carb, and I lose it when I go back on low carb. Just from food going through my gut, and water retention.
You're already so skinny, and on such incredibly low calories, I reckon you'll only gain success if you review your macros and change your energy source to something that stays available for energy, eg fat or protein. :)
(keto nazi. Wish I'd known about keto when I was young and only 60 odd kg. I could never understand how I couldn't lose weight and it's because I was storing everything I ate. Watch the video. :)

I ate a lot for a month when I visited my dad, just to make him happy, and he was happy, he is still talking about it. No regrets. Some things are more important than weight control, no? You are very fit, you remained fit after consuming the giant pizza last year. Don’t worry… ❤️
