Crystal, show them your recent before and after photos!!!  

Crystal, Here we find out our own secret to our own fat issues. Fatsecret!!! I wasted close to 2 years and gained 35lbs before realizing Fatsecret site (yes, I passed by because the name sounded like a con and/or cheesy) wasn't insisting I purchase something like the others do. That's all I got. Show them your before and after!!! And you did it Your Way! As we each find our own Fat Secrets! Now, that's all I got 😀 Good luck :-) 

I feel like I would be saying they were 'fat'...that word really can be hurtful 

Breezy🤗 I just love your positivity and kindness💙 I just wish it was called Weightloss Secret...or Calorie Secret...or Overweight Secret...lol. The word 'fat' is very offensive imo. 

Thanks Crystal, I appreciate that 🤗 How did You start with Fatsecret? Why not Weight Watchers, Noom, etc.? Why didn't those catch/keep your attention? Your story told to people you know and care about is potent! Use it. Once I knew why the others wouldn't work for me and why this does my vanity or embarrassment or whatever was making me pass by this site disappeared. I get a big smile and toss in a giggle when I'm asked about what I'm up to. Fat is NOT a 4 letter word. Hope this helps 😁 

When I first signed up I think I found the app for my phone in the PlayStore. The app is actually called "Calorie Counter by FatSecret". I never worried about the name. I have shown several friends the app when they asked how I was losing weight. I just told them I counted my calories & this is how I do it. 

I found it under FatSecret! I was using calorie counter but I’m not paying for it. Lol 

I agree that the name is a put off. But then again, we all seemed to find our way here 🤷. I've told friends about this app and mentioned the name is weird but the community support is awesome. 

The program was developed over 15 years ago in Australia. Used in many countries. The name of any product is a marketing strategy. I am not offended by the use of the word "fat". It is an accurate description of why and what people want to get rid of in this community. Countless people use the term to describe themselves in a physical way. You can call yourself obese,overweight or some other cute term but it is ultimately excess body fat that is the health issue. The word only becomes offensive when you use it as a term to describe someone else and who they are as a person. So share your journey with family and friends and the tools that helped you. Don't worry about the name of the app. 

I never gave the name much thought. It is a great site and it's free. Keeps you accountable to what you are eating if you log it in right. There is a lot of add foods that people have added that isn't right but who doesn't like a challenge! It keeps you honest. I have been using this site for gosh about 4 years maybe more. So if the name bothers whoever maybe they have something to hide! 

I like the name-I took it as this is a app you can be on a private health journey-I like that part. It’s a turn off for me to be a part of some fitness group looking at my meals or praising someone for skipping a brownie-that always felt weird to me. I like that I can be on my Own Private journey on here with tracking my macros for free. Without a coach or food shaming. I believe in intuitive eating & I love that this app shows me where I may need some extra protein or less sodium 😄 but I want it between me & myself. Maybe that’s how the name came about? The person wanted their journey to be private & not open to others to pick apart their lifestyle while they lose fat.

Breezy, I started my journey with Noom actually. But after finishing their lessons (which really REALLY helped me understand a lot of things about nutrition & weight loss) I did a search for a different calorie counter. I found theirs to be cumbersome. That's when I found FS and once I saw the interaction among the members, I was hooked!💯 You're right - fat is NOT a 4 letter word😁

it's a dilemma for sure. But I'm so happy with my progress here that I'm proud to say the name out loud. People looking for something will be encouraged to check it out just by your recommendations. I share it with people I care about. Don't be afraid or shy to share.

Espiritu, nice to meet you today and thanks for your comments. I had never thought about the 'private' aspect, as I'm such a social creature and enjoy the interaction...but this app can definitely be used as a private health journey in so many ways. I use the macro features to help determine what I need to round out for max health every single day!  

Popsgirl, the calorie counter has been an essential tool for me too! Yes, some of the items are not always correct, but I've learned to weigh using grams which has greatly improved the accuracy of my calorie count. Thanks for stopping by here🌞🌷 

the name is allitlle weird but I don't mind it i was fat that's what brought me here and thanks to alot of hard work, determination, the support on here and the tracking tools I'm in the best shape of my life! hard to have a problem with the name when you see the outcome.
