How is this helpful to someone on a diet??? Looks fabulous but for those of us watching our calories using this platform it is crazy

oldglasslady Sherry is one of the best examples you can see on here on how to maintain for long term success and not just short term results and rebounding back to where you started. Stick around you might learn a thing or two from her long term dedication and consistency both in the gym and with her diet. looks great Sherry 👍

I am so happy Sherry has it figured out!! Truly I am! I just find all these posts that get sent to my feed showing fat loaded or bready meals that wouldn't find their way into most diets. One guy had a caramel shake and a philly cheese steak on a hoagie. He said it was 250 calories ... I am use the calorie counter to figure out my portions and allowable food and I keep seeing all these posts that feature thin looking healthy people eating food most of us can't saying what a great meal it is. Maybe I need to be on another site but it is just hard to see.

Oldglasslady…When I started my health journey in 2022, I restricted my foods TOO much. If I could start again, I’d still portion my food, but not be QUITE so radical. I’m animal based WOE, but occasionally treat myself to breads, crackers. I’d say 90% whole, fresh foods, cooked at home. 10% processed like my LC wraps. Yes, I can make my own now but I’m not about to make homemade tortillas during the last week of school. Most of this meal only comes from the meat & bread. It’s a 1/2 potion of chips. Fat is not the problem (unless it’s hydrogenated seed oils). It’s sugar. So yes, I’d prob skip the bread on most occasions (NOT ALL though). In fact, I eat my normal WOE 5-6 days a week but if I need a day or 2 to eat a few things that I need to feed my soul, I will. Everyone is different I realized through this app and what works for one, may not work for the other. I’d say if seeing meals like this is a “trigger”, yes you may want to not look. Getting triggered is a real thing. Like not having certain foods you know you can’t resist and is bad for you in your home! For me, I have type 2 diabetes and manage it through food and exercise so I’m at the point that if food isn’t going to benefit my health journey, it’s not WORTH it to eat it. But I don’t complain about someone else’s dish, I think “how can I tweak it to serve my personal need”

Oldglasslady, I post what I actually eat to show you can lose weight & then maintain eating real food. After years of yoyoing up & down, I started on my last weight-loss journey almost 5 years ago. This time I've been successful. Things that make this meal "good" for me are #1. Previously I would have had 2 sausages. #2. My serving of chips is small. Since I'm eating them in conjunction with other foods. I'm satisfied with just a taste. #3. Adding things like the sautéed peppers & onions & jalapenos gives it lots of flavor.

OGL, if you look at my journal you will see I have plenty of days I eat chicken or a salad or veggies. By balancing my food choices with lower calorie meals I'm able to eat what may seem like a somewhat decadent meal. This particular day I had worked out at the Gym earlier. On those days I know I can eat a few more calories & still maintain. Plus, I was feeling a bit lazy after a busy day & we just happened to have the Brats already grilled in the fridge 😊 I wish you lots of luck on your journey!

I hope my comment doesn’t backfire on me and is understood as my personal perspective on my journey. Sherry, Storms and myself I think all fall into the category of older woman who have lost weight later in life. Our food choices and why we eat like we do are about as different as you will find on FS. We all found our own successful way to manage our weight and health. This meal is a perfect example for me. Even though others find this meal drool worthy, when I look at it TODAY there isn’t anything on that plate that I want to eat and particularly all at once. Not because of calories but for me I imagine for my particular way of eating the sodium and fat content is way too high to all be in one meal and even in one day. I also don’t see foods that I personally consider nutritious. That doesn’t mean it doesn’t taste good. That also doesn’t mean that someday in the future I might find myself in the food lane at Sam’s Club getting a hot dog with sauerkraut. But it won’t have chips, cheese and pickles. Just mustard and kraut. I may or may not eat it all. Years ago I would have eaten this meal and not thought twice about it, but today how I make my food choices is much different. So I understand the struggle when members look at food pics and ask why are you posting this ? Food stimulation is everywhere and success in your journey requires working through what justifies you putting it in your mouth or not.

Daily Food choices can be complicated. For example if Sherrye invited me over for lunch or a bbq and this meal was on the menu I would eat it all. Likely even have two. Lol. But when making daily choices where I have control over what is on my plate other criteria come into play.

Honeebuns, I respect everyone's decision to choose their own WOE & we all find different foods appealing. I happen to love sausages, as does Hubby. I eat plenty of chicken & fish to balance out this possibly less nutritious choice. As you said, I'm an older woman. I'm healthy & my twice yearly labs suport that. Hubby's (at the age of 80) are good, too. Sometimes when serving sausage I might make broccoli, Brussels sprouts or a salad to go with it. My point in posting this is....if you enjoy a sausage on a bun occasionally then it's perfectly fine to have one 😊

Hi O’GlassLady..hope you’re still around~ Just wanted to say that I understand where you’re coming from. I used Fat Secret for over a decade (happily and with great benefit) before just recently venturing into this forum. TRACKING is a great tool for whatever eating strategy one is focused on- ESSENTIAL I’d say for success for low carb and for getting enough protein- which only increases in importance as we age. I think possibly THE MOST aspect of tracking is the habit and commitment to be honest with oneself, that is tracking no matter what, even when (especially when) we have food regrets or decide to make less optimal choices. I often heart posts here simply because the person is tracking, they are being accountability to themselves..and I support THAT whole heartedly. Maybe just log your food in the app..and find food-choice support in a dedicated low-carb diet forum. I really do understand your surprise at some of the posts here..and congratulate you on logging your food, and hope you’ll keep tracking.💚

I too have no forbidden foods, but believe in moderation. I love sausage, but when i look at the nutrition values it's a real turn-off (so I eat it rarely)
