I'm actually maintaining this week, so .1 is a celebration. As per Half Size me suggestions, the weight range I set for maintenance week has been 177-182, but as usual my body likes to maintain between a 3 lb differential if I'm doing it correctly. Yesterday I was 179, so I am indeed maintaining successfully. FYI, I've been doing about 1800-1900 cals/day to maintain this weight. I'm enjoying as much as I can as maintenance week ends on Sunday and I'll be back to my deficit. To that end, Mom and me our going out to a fancy restaurant tonight! I do actually feel really good about successful maintenance weeks, building in maintenance habits are just as essential if not more than losing. Happy Holidays everyone!

I agree about maintenance -that's when the Real work begins.

So true Happy Snappy - I find I'm even more diligent on maintenance weeks because I'm not eating to lose, but I don't want to go over either, so weighing food and measuring becomes essential for sure.

Thanks for sharing this. So much focus on the losing but the maintaining is critical. In the past I have thought that even if you take a break from losing, if you could just maintain until you're ready to start dieting again it would be great! Instead, we gain it all back and more and have to start all over. Maybe I'll try a "maintain week" when I reach my next goal.

Love this! I just started listening to Half Size Me and the idea of maintenance breaks are revolutionary. That’s my goal this week too, and I have planned maintenance breaks in April and June of next year.

@kmking40 - in the Half Size Me community, understanding maintenance is an absolute must for the exact reasons you specified. People have convinced themselves they can't lose or don't know how to lose. I haven't come across one person in my life (regardless of health conditions) that can't lose weight regardless of how slow or steady it comes off. But, I haven't come across one person that hasn't gained weight back after the loss. So, weight loss is actually not the issue but maintaining the loss through sustainable habits is, which is why I love the half size me community because folks in that forum are keeping off the weight they lose by simply practicing. Maintenance weeks are wonderful because they fuel your metabolism, give you a deficit break, but they teach you that one has to be just as diligent in maintenance as they are in a deficit. In short, one can eat more but they can't eat it all! LOL ;-) @Coberdin - I'm a member of the half size me community as well. I love those podcasts and her webinars are phenomenal too!

Good job - everyone needs a maintenance plan (so, I'd better start planning mine NOW).

@Egull1 cool! Not a community member but the podcasts are great. They match up really well with my other fave, the Foodist/Summer Tomato community. I’m mostly using the Foodist approach, but Half Size Me has really helped as well.

@371to184 - I can't agree more. I love how Heather Robertson puts it. Everyone wants to wait until they hit goal to learn to maintain as if they think it's the easiest thing in the world. They don't get you have to be just as diligent in maintenance as you are when losing, even if you get to eat a little more. If you think about how long it takes to lose weight compared to how long a person will be in maintenance (which, is for the rest of one's life if they're committed to health) then folks better get used to practicing/ being in maintenance because if they aren't it's 100% guaranteed the weight will come back even if they hit goal.

Thank you SMP! I'm working on it :-) I've still got a while before I hit goal, but this body seems to like slow and steady ;-) and good to see you too, Misty! I hope this finds you well and healthy in heart and spirit! And, thank you Steven, I hope you and yours have a wonderful Holiday and a blissful New Year {{hugs!}}
