Weight finally down from where it was 9 days ago. Down from 234.0 to 233.0 this morning (0.6 pounds less than a week ago Monday). At least it's moving again.

My daughter was making crème Brulee yesterday and asked me how many I wanted. I took three. I've found that I can fit it into my calorie goal by eliminating my evening toast with butter. She hasn't made any for about a month. One of the keys for me to be able to maintain this diet is to NOT deprive myself of things I really want. It has to be something that is sustainable for the long haul. Right now, a "diet" with crème Brulee, Dave's killer Good Seed Bread, real butter and Diet Coke is what is working for me. I still get in plenty of fruit (melons at this time of year) and some vegetables (butter beans, onions, mushrooms, peppers, cucumbers). I'd love to be able to eat a nice salad, but the only way I like it is with real Buttermilk Ranch Dressing, and I like a serving and a half or two servings at least on a salad. I'll work that in sometime soon (when I'm not having 310-calorie desserts!)

44 degrees when I woke up this morning. 69 in the house, but I was still a little cool and thought about having the hot tea (65 calories with heavy whipping cream and 1 tsp. sugar + two Truvia), but I reminded myself that washing dishes also warms me up, so I did that, instead.

WAS able to forego the extra toast with peanut butter this morning, PTL. For those who have been around for a couple of years, you know that I get on these "jags" that become habits that are hard to break. Right now, the half slice of toast with PB is trying to sneak in as another one of those. Remember Thomas's English Muffins with butter, peanut butter and jelly that I "had" to have every morning? Or homemade Tapioca Pudding, where I would sometimes eat all four servings (800+ calories) in a single day?

Some might think that the crème Brulee is another one of those things - but it is only about 3 days a month, not an every day thing. I'm trying to gradually get away from eating the slice of Dave's Killer Bread with butter when I wake up in the night. I've been able to skip it 3 of the past 7 nights, which is a GREAT accomplishment for me. Wish me luck with maybe making NOT eating it a habit!

ok, I only had to do half of the dishes to get warmed up - still have the other half to do. Praying for all my FS friends to have an enjoyable and productive day!

Hi, I love some full fat, creamy dressings too, but I now cut the portion size to one and mix it with fat free greek yogurt, maybe lemon juice &/or vinegar to give it the coverage I like on my salad.

Before I started counting calories & became aware of exactly how many were in some things like dressings, nuts, condiments, coffee creamer, etc. I ate lots more than a serving of many things. Over time I have conditioned myself to like my salads with less dressing. I personally like vinaigrette. I also now measure my coffee creamer. I didn't eliminate nuts & other higher cal foods, but now I often combine them with lower cal choices so that I'm satisfied with a smaller serving. Debbie, try cutting back a little at a time & you may find you actually prefer less dressing on your salad.

I love ranch dressing. Sometimes I'll put a couple tablespoons on a baked potato, but like you it takes too much for me to use on a salad. I rarely make salads but use a low fat rasberry vinagrette that isn't bad.

It's great that it's working for you. I can understand you not wanting to deprive yourself but choosing something you can sustain. A year ago September when I lost that 20 lbs for HealthyWeight in 6 months, I waited a little too long to lose the final pounds and had to deprive myself of normal food or lose the $400. I had coming. I was thinking of all the things I could have when it was over and only stayed down a day or 2. I put it all back on plus 4 more pounds in 3 months. But unlike you, I can't lose on a normal diet. I'm not back to where I was 10 days ago. Just call me yo-yo.

I make a pretty decent ranch using plain low fat kefir in the place of the buttermilk. Maybe you can try experimenting with a recipe that approximates the one you are used to using but with lower fat & calories?

Two things; I like Bolthouse yogurt dressings, 2 Tbsp Ranch is 45 calories and I do half dressing and half vinegar, using a good quality vinegar.

I totally agree sustainable eating plan is the only way to go! I like my salad to have taste able dressing too. I've found dipping my fork into dressing on the side with each bit allows me to get the flavor with less dressing.
