Micro-loss this week bringing me to 137.2. Had forgotten how difficult it is to lose when so close to ideal body weight. Still, I had set a goal of 118 lbs. by Thanksgiving, so more work is needed.

I gave up rice and pasta several months ago because of the processed food thing and also because they're low in nutrients for their calorie content. In their place I've been using spinach and potatoes of various kinds. I'm big on curries, and these are great fillers. Wading into autumn is also a great excuse to use the new crop of produce in season: potatoes, brussels, eggplant, pumpkin, apples & pears. It finally cooled off enough that I could bake red cabbage "steaks" in the oven, brushed with olive oil, salt & smoked paprika.

I love pumpkin in Thai curries from restaurants, so this season I'm tackling cutting and carving at home. Since my local market sells both the big ones and the "pie" pumpkins, the experiment will involve both.
